
1. Enter the State of Ihram
When: Before reaching the Miqat (designated boundary).
What: Make your intention (niyyah) for Hajj and begin reciting the Talbiyah.
“Labbayk Allahumma Hajj…”
Wear the Ihram garments (2 white sheets for men, modest clothing for women).
2. Tawaf Al-Qudoom (Arrival Tawaf) (For Qiraan & Ifrad)
Performed upon arrival in Makkah before Hajj days begin.
7 rounds around the Kaaba, starting from the Black Stone.
Pray 2 Rak’ahs behind Maqam Ibrahim afterward.
(Not mandatory in Tamattu’, since Umrah includes its own Tawaf.)
3. Sa’i between Safa and Marwa
Walk 7 times between the two hills, commemorating Hajar’s search for water.
4. Travel to Mina
After sunrise, go to Mina and spend the day and night in worship.
Perform Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha, and Fajr prayers there.
5. Proceed to Arafat
Stand in Wuqoof (stay in Arafat) from Dhuhr to Maghrib.
This is the most essential pillar of Hajj.
“Hajj is Arafat.” – Prophet Muhammad ﷺ
6. Travel to Muzdalifah (after sunset)
Pray Maghrib & Isha combined there.
Collect 49 or 70 pebbles for the stoning ritual.
Sleep under the open sky.
7. Return to Mina and Stone Jamrat Al-Aqabah
Throw 7 pebbles at the largest pillar (Jamrat al-Aqabah) after sunrise.
Each throw: “Allahu Akbar!”
8. Offer the Sacrifice (Qurbani)
Mandatory for Tamattu’ and Qiraan.
Not required for Ifrad.
9. Shave or Trim Hair
Men: Shave or shorten all hair.
Women: Trim a small portion.
After this, partial release from Ihram—normal clothes can be worn.
7 rounds around the Kaaba.
Pray 2 Rak’ahs.
Followed by Sa’i if not done earlier (e.g., for Tamattu’ pilgrims).
This completes full release from Ihram.
11. Stay in Mina & Ramee (Stoning)
Each day, stone three pillars:
Jamrat Al-Ula (small)
Jamrat Al-Wusta (middle)
Jamrat Al-Aqabah (big)
Throw 7 pebbles at each, daily (21 total/day).
You can leave on the 12th or stay for the 13th (optional).
Before leaving Makkah, perform 7 rounds around the Kaaba.
This is required unless you are a resident of Makkah or menstruating woman.
